Why we should not worship Human beings in place of God. Vedas bar human worship. human beings are part and parcel of the illusory universe or Maya. Worshipping anything from the illusory universe or Maya is barred by Vedas.
Those Gurus who glorify themselves as God are ignorant. Whoever speaks of knowing Brahman within himself is thinking only of his body.
Human worship is meant for ignorant people who are unaware of what God suppose to be in truth. Human worship is nothing to do with Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.
Vedas say they are enveloped in ignorance who worships anything that belongs to the dualistic illusion or Maya in place of the all-pervading God.
Vedas say: May ye never accept another God in place of the Atman nor worship other than the Atman.
Rig Veda: ~ 'Prajnanam Brahma'- Consciousness is the ultimate reality or Brahman or God in truth.
Do not accept any other God other than the Soul. The Soul is God in truth, Nothing is real but the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. Nothing matters but realize God in truth. God in truth is everywhere and in everything. Let these words be inscribed in your subconscious.
God in truth is hidden by the illusory universe. God in truth alone is real and eternal and all else is an illusion.
Brahman is merely a word to indicate the ultimate truth or God in truth. The ultimate truth itself is God in truth.
Rig Veda: ~ The Atman (Soul or Spirit) is the cause; Atman is the support of all that exists in this universe. May ye never turn away from the Atman the Self. May ye never accept another God in place of the Atman nor worship other than the Atman?" (10:48, 5)
Yajurveda – chapter- 32:~ “It has been said that God Supreme or Supreme Spirit has no ‘Pratima’ (idol) or material shape. God cannot be seen directly by anyone. God pervades all beings and all directions.
Those who worship visible things which belong to the dualistic illusion or Maya, such as the earth, trees, bodies (human and the like) in place of God are in still greater ignorance they are extremely foolish.
Vedas bar human worship: ~
Translation 3
"They are enveloped in darkness, in other words, are steeped in ignorance and sunk in the greatest depths of misery who worship the uncreated, eternal prakrti -- the material cause of the world -- in place of the All-pervading God, But those who worship visible things born of the prakrti, such as the earth, trees, bodies (human and the like) in place of God are enveloped in still greater darkness, in other words, they are extremely foolish, fall into an awful hell of pain and sorrow, and suffer terribly for a long time."- (Yajur Veda 40:9.)
The Yogis and gurus belong to the dualistic illusion or Maya. Vedas bar worshipping anything which belongs to the dualistic illusion or Maya. The dualistic illusion or Maya is present in the form of the universe.
Then why worship and glorify the Gurus and Yogis (human form) in place of God when Veda bars such activities and it also warns people who indulge in such activities are enveloped in still greater ignorance, in other words, they are extremely foolish, fall into an awful hell of pain and sorrow, and suffer terribly for a long time. All such acts and worship and rituals are meant for the ignorant populace, not for the seekers of truth.
Swami Vivekananda said: ~ “You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher, but your own Soul.”
All the people who worship human bodies as God are in the prison of ignorance. The one who thinks of himself as a Guru and the one who thinks himself as a chela (disciple) will not be able to get Self-Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana because both of them accepted themselves as the body. And all their understanding, practices, knowledge based on the false self. Therefore, the Guru –Shisya concept is a great obstacle in the pursuit of truth. That is why a Gnani never accepts himself as a Guru or accepts anyone as his disciple because he was fully immersed in his true Self, which is the formless consciousness. There was no division in his consciousness, even though he was in the midst of the dualistic illusion.
Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana is meant only for those who have intense urge, and courage to accept the truth with humility and reject the untruth. Since people start comparing with their scriptural and intellectual knowledge, it becomes impossible to assimilate and realize the non-dual truth. Therefore, there is no need to convince anyone other than our own selves to get the firm conviction.
That is why Sage Sri, Sankara said: ~ Neither by the practice of yoga nor philosophy, nor by good works nor by learning, does liberation come, but only through the realization that Atman and Brahman are one in no other way. (1) Vivekachoodamani v 56, pg 25
It is for every seeker who is in the path of truth to prove himself to know “What is the truth, “and “What is untruth?” through deeper Self-search, to assimilate the Self –Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.: ~Santthosh Kumaar
